Monday Morning Motivation: Vince Lombardi

In Inspirational Quotes, Monday Morning Motivation, Sports on February 7, 2011 at 9:49 pm

“The inches we need are everywhere around us.”

-Vince Lombardi

I am not a Green Bay fan (nor am I a Steelers fan), but it is very neat to see the Vince Lombardi trophy heading “home” with the Green Bay Packers.

In a year when “Lombardi” is a hit on Broadway, it is altogether fitting that the trophy that bears his name is headed back home.

No rewrite was needed for this script, and all the actors played their parts to near-perfection last night as the Packers made history and added to their own rich history.

They jumped ahead early in Super Bowl XLV and led the entire way. But in exhausting fashion, they had to hang on for dear life after their 21-3 lead was repeatedly cut into by the determined Steelers, who kept coming and coming but came up short.

In the end, the Packers made one final defensive stand for a 31-25 victory at Cowboys Stadium.

“The Vince Lombardi Trophy is finally going back home,” coach Mike McCarthy said.

Jets-Pats TV rating highest for NFL divisional game since 1997

In Sports on January 18, 2011 at 12:35 am

CBS’ Jets-Patriots game Sunday drew the highest overnight TV rating for any NFL divisional playoff game since a Dallas-Carolina game on Fox in 1997.

The Jets’ win Sunday got a 26.2 rating, which translates into 26.2% of TV households in the 56 local TV markets measured for overnights. That’s up 13% from CBS’ comparable coverage of a Jets-Chargers game last year.

Thanks for the info USAToday!

Now Rex Ryan’s rowdy bunch is headed to its second straight AFC championship game after New York backed up its coach’s boasts with a 28-21 win Sunday over the New England Patriots — the team with the best record in the NFL.

 The game:

Mark Sanchez threw three touchdown passes and the Jets sacked Tom Brady five times in the most-hyped of the weekend’s four postseason games following a week of verbal potshots from both teams.

“Maybe everybody else never believed, but we believed,” Ryan said. “We’re moving on. Same old Jets, back to the AFC championship. The only difference is this time we plan on winning.”Now Rex Ryan’s rowdy bunch is headed to its second straight AFC championship game after New York backed up its coach’s boasts with a 28-21 win Sunday over the New England Patriots — the team with the best record in the NFL.

To all of my fellow Jet fans:

It’s not easy being a Jets fan, you know this!  But every sunday (minus a bye week) we throw on the jersey, claim our spot in front of the TV and cheer on our beloved J – E – T – S   JETS JETS JETS!

Not too bad! 8-2! Hopefully Damian Woody’s knee holds up for our Thursday night game against Cinci!  PS….Santonio Homes…possibly my new favorite.

Just had to share this amazing photo!  Wishing everyone a relaxing Thanksgiving with loved ones and far too much food!
