Action breeds confidence and courage.

If you want to conquer fear, do not sit home and think about it.

Go out and get busy.”

Soldier & Loyal Dog Make Final Journey Together

In Animals, Inspirational Quotes, Interesting Photos on March 10, 2011 at 10:17 pm

A true story of the bond between man & his best friend.

The body of a British soldier shot dead in Afghanistan was being flown home Thursday – alongside the loyal dog who died of a seizure after his master was killed.

Lance Cpl. Liam Tasker, a dog handler with the Royal Army Veterinary Corps, was killed in a firefight with insurgents in Helmand Province last week. Theo, his bomb-sniffing springer spaniel, suffered a fatal seizure hours later at a British army base.

The 26-year-old soldier and the dog had been in Afghanistan for six months, uncovering roadside bombs. In February, the defense ministry announced that Theo had been so successful – finding 14 hidden bombs – that his tour of duty had been extended by a month.

Please keep Lance Cpl. Liam Tasker’s family in your thoughts and prayers.  May Theo and Lance rest in peace.

Animal Loyalty

In Animals, Interesting Photos on January 21, 2011 at 7:51 am

This brought tears to my eyes….

From CNN “THIS JUST IN” as seen on BarStoolSports:

As the death toll from devastating flooding in Brazil continues to rise, a single picture drives home the sense of loss.

Leao, a medium-sized brown mutt,  lies next to the grave of her owner, Cristina Maria Cesario Santana, who died in the catastrophic landslides caused by heavy rain.  This AFP/Getty picture was taken on Saturday, the second consecutive day that the dog refused to leave the woman’s grave at the cemetery in Teresopolis, near Rio de Janiero.

Brazilians are bracing for more rain, fearing more landslides after waves of muddy water swallowed towns in the country’s worst flood disaster on record.

At least 655 deaths were reported in a mountainous region of Rio de Janeiro state, northeast of the city of Rio.

As a certified dog lover, this picture was heartbreaking!  Anyone who has known the love of a canine friend can relate.  We keep the suffering Brazilians in our thoughts.  Don’t forget to give your pups an extra belly scratch tonight to thank them for their loyalty!

New England got hit hard with this early 2011 storm…check out this picture taken on our back deck!

The following is taken from an article in the Norwich Bullitan

The National Weather Service reported snow on the ground in every state except Florida. That included Hawaii, which had 7 inches on the top of the Mauna Kea  mountain. The winter weather was blamed for at least 18 deaths since Sunday when snow and ice hit the South.

Airlines canceled more than 3,000 flights, mostly in the snowy Northeast, but said travelers wouldn’t be stuck for days as they were after a Christmas weekend storm. New York accounted for half the canceled flights, according to flight-tracking service FlightAware.

Commuter rail service was delayed or suspended across the region, and Amtrak suspended service between New York City and Boston because of damage to the overhead power system south of Boston.

  • Boston 11.6 inches
  • Worcester, Mass. 15.5 inches
  • Connecticut’s Bradley International Airport 22.5 inches
  • Providence 6.9 inches.
  • Chesterfield 26.3 inches
  • Manchester 27 inches

Take caution while driving in the treterous conditions…and make sure you have a guaranteed life insurance policy! 🙂
