Coventry PuzzleThon to Benefit ASCONN- The Autism Society of CT

In Charity, Child ID Program, Community Events, East Hampton on February 23, 2011 at 4:29 am

On Saturday March 5th New York Life will PROUDLY be bringing the New York Life CHILD ID Program to the Coventry CT Puzzlethon!  This event, the ASCONN Puzzlethon, is a unique fundraiser created especially to benefit the Connecticut Autism Community.  Check out the event’s FB page here!

So what is it? It’s like a Walk-A-Thon, except participants raise money by doing puzzles: jigsaw, crossword, sudoku, word search, any times of puzzles!

Why Puzzles? The puzzle piece is the most recognized symbol of the autism community. Many individuals with an Autism Spectrum Disorder excel at doing puzzles. Through Puzzlethon TM, persons with autism can enjoy meaningful and therapeautic social interactions doing puzzles with non-autistic individuals.

How it works – Individuals or teams are sponsored for participation, for each puzzle completed, or for a fixed amount.

When is it? – SATURDAY, MARCH 5TH, 2011 12 noon to 4pm at Coventry High School.

Sign up your school, community group, employer, service organization, family and more for this outstanding project!
All proceeds from Puzzlethon TM will benefit the programs and services of ASCONN.

For more information, please contact:

Kristen Bilotta-Brzozowski-860-989-0738 or Carolyn Dionne-860-985-3558

Can’t attend but you’d like to help?

We are looking for Puzzles!!! Call for info if interested in sponsoring a Table or Game, donating food & drink items, or donating to ASCONN.  All are welcome!  There will Puzzles of all kinds, games, facepainting, and plenty of food & drinks. Don’t miss it!  Tell your friends!

Promote Your Business with Social Media!

In Community Events on December 9, 2010 at 10:40 pm

Carolyn Dionne of TeamPrimary and I will be hosting a social media seminar on Wednesday, December 15 from 2-4 PM at their office in Manchester, CT.

What to expect:

Get ready to socialize!  The purpose of this class is to educate business owners and those in business for themselves how to further promote their brand.  Yellowpages are dead, get where your customer is!  ONLINE!

  • You will learn the ins & outs of “social media”: understanding how you can use the different social networking sites to help your business.  We will break into groups to make sure we’re going at a pace that everyone is comfortable.
  • If you do not apply even a fraction of what we teach you, you will simply have become more familiar with some of the social media terms and will be able to understand some of the e-marketing language that is out there.
  • Even if you sat there with your eyes closed and ears covered the entire time while we discussed e-marketing and growing your business, you will have been provided a wonderful networking opportunity.  Professionals from various industries will be in attendance; come join in on the fun!

What to Bring:

  • Laptop computer
  • Notepad & Pen
  • Your usernames & passwords
  • A picture of yourself saved somewhere

Not sure I’m qualified?  Check this out.  My marketing experience at my internship in college with Paradiso Insurance was incredible!

Crayons for Cancer

In Charity, Community Events, Holiday on December 7, 2010 at 2:08 am

This weekend I had the opportunity to meet Emily, the little hero who started Crayons for Cancer at six years old!

Help spread the word about this wonderful organization!

Who they support:

Crayons for Cancer is a charity that raises money to help ease the financial burdens of families whose children are currently suffering from the devastating effects of cancer.Crayons for Cancer helps

How they do it:

Crayons for Cancer collects old, broken crayons from families, classrooms, and restaurants.  The crayons are then peeled (at Crayon Peeling Parties), placed into molds, and melted down into fun shapes.

What’s the end result?   BIG, colorful crayons shaped as animals, flowers, legos, hearts, stars, insects, and etc.  The Crayons are sold for $1.00 at different locations all over the state.

How you can help:

  • Donate your old crayons!  I will come pick up your broken old Crayolas for Crayons for Cancer!  Feel free to email me at for more information.
  • Look into hosting a Crayon Peeling Party in your community today…a great idea for Community Service!
  • Help their cause today!
